D-TE™ – strengthening blades to withstand strong winds

Challenge

A 0.9 MW wind turbine with 27 m blades, commissioned in 2012, was being curtailed due to blade overload in strong winds. The turbine risked reduced energy production and operational inefficiency.

Curtailment of WTG due to overload of the blade

Solution

Our team provided a technical opinion and root cause analysis, applying D-TE™ to six blades. The intervention strengthened the blades to resist high wind loads and prevent overload-related curtailment.

Impact

The structural enhancement allowed the turbine to operate safely in stronger winds, maintaining energy production and improving overall reliability.
