The Lex project

Jr. nr. 64013-0115

The LEX project is a 3-year demonstration project started in July 2013 with a total budget of €4m whereof €2m are supported by the EUDP-programme. The aim of the project is to develop and demonstrate cost effective solutions for mitigating leading edge damages on blades for both existing and future wind turbines. The LEX project is supported by the Energy Technology Development and Demonstration Program (EUDP), which is administered by the Danish Energy Agency.

X-Stiffener™
Built to prevent leading edge cracks.
X-Stiffener™ counters twisting and peeling stresses, reducing the risk of longitudinal cracking on the leading edge.
How it works
Acts like a cross brace in a bookshelf, stabilising the blade to avoid shear web deformation caused by gravity and aerodynamic forces.
Benefits as a repair
- Increases blade durability
- Prevents early-stage cracks
- Adds strength without adding weight
