EWIC
The scope of this 1-year project is to combine existing and new-to-the-world technologies for an end-of-warranty inspection concept for wind turbine blades. To do so, involvement from wind industry is paramount as well as development of a new tool to inspect and test bond lines in the blade.
End of warranty inspection

Typically, installing a new offshore wind farm comes with a 5-year warranty on the blades. Combined with the fact that most major damages are caused by structural failures under the surface, the extent of end-of-warranty inspection has a high impact on the blade performance and service prediction.
This project aims to develop a new inspection concept to be used after the 5-year warranty period. This includes development of a new-to-the world method to test the bond lines between the aerodynamic skin and the load-carrying structure as well as in the trailing edge.
